Another Saturday

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Ah, another Saturday. Three routes down, and it looks like I get to drive to Tukwila with the mail again. Our other two offices won’t fare much better, so I’m having them bring their mail here, and I’ll save the PO money by running up there with a single car. I’m such a hero. Makes for a 13-14 hour day for me.

Another 40 minutes and our Window closes. If you’re postal and want a peek, it’s intranet addresss is

I still have eRMS to do, but that’s about it until the carriers get back. My big excitement will be lunch. I wonder if there’s anywhere I can nap around here. Maybe the custodial closet…

I hear a pipe calling…

Just Killing Time

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Waiting for my boss to get back so I can go home. Rotten day today. Four routes out of twenty-five uncovered. Basically, that means that everyone in my office had to carry part of routes other than their own. We call it mando. Amazingly, three people stepped up to case routes they didn’t know.

This is pretty meaningless, unless you’re a postal supervisor, but think of it like this: By 7:30 am, a trip to the liquor store would’ve been justified. Yech.

Augh! Nowhere To Hide!

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I foolishly checked my work email from home, only to discover that someone had distributed my work email address to the general public. This means it was leaked from an internal source.

There are about a zillion ways to get a hold of me at work, and I assure you that plenty of people do, but my work email address is pristine, receiving a ton of internal mail. The last thing I need is to have customers emailing me at work.

Someone must die…horribly and slowly.

Pipe, Halloween and Crappy Job

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

-sigh- Halloween came and went, and I still don’t have my pipe. It’s coming from Turkey, and I suspect that with the unrest there, it may be held up in Customs. I’ll try again to get a tracking number and see if I can find out anything.

Halloween was great, though. I only had two days to prepare, but I managed to put up a lot of things, and some new things, and rearranged everything so it was different than last year. My graveyard came out really good looking. I’ll post photos to Flickr as soon as I download them from our camera.

Work is seriously screwed up. Everyone is stressed, and I’m being threatened with a Letter of Warning. Since there’s no union, I want to arrange for legal counsel to be at my Investigative Interview, but they’re refusing me that right. I’m willing to get downright mean about this, as it’s my ass on the line. All I know is that no one better be asking me to come in on my day off from this point on. I was thinking about going off on stress for 12 weeks. Naw, I won’t, but it’s nice to think about.

Hope you had a great Halloween!

Little Room

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

A truck driver had just finished offloading on our dock this morning, and one of our guys yelled to him, “Would you like to use the little girls’ room?”

He yelled back, “No, I’d like the little boys’.” We all did a double-take, and the truck driver groaned and turned beet red. “Not what I meant! Not what I meant!”

It was hard to hear him over all the laughing.
